BOUDREAU AND HENDERSON CLAIM 2003 MILLER ELECTRIC - DUBUQUE ELECTRIC MOTOR WALLEYE CHALLENGE A W.A.T. EVENT AT GENOA, WI
Genoa, WI - Zach Boudreau, LaCrescent, MN and Curt Henderson, LaCrescent, MN weighed a basket of 6 Walleyes each day for a total weight of 31.23 lbs. to win the Miller Electric - Dubuque Electric Motor Walleye Challenge a W.A.T. Qualifying Tournament held Saturday and Sunday April 5-6, 2003.

46 teams made to the trip to Genoa, WI and to the Mississippi river. The Power Plant ramp was the official launch site for this 2-day event. Teams blasted off each morning to cold conditions. Air temperatures were in the low 20's each morning. Extreme care was taken by all W.A.T. participants when unloading their boats to avoid icing on the ramp. W.A.T. Officials thank the local Lions Club members for assisting in salting and sanding the ramp each morning. The river conditions were a river temperature of 39 degrees, good water clarity and a low pool level due to lack of runoff up north. W.A.T. teams prevailed despite a tough bite due to the unusual river conditions, as April in Genoa typically brings a high pool level and poor clarity levels and an active pattern with spawning.

First day leaders were the team of Mark Brye, Viroqua, WI and Tom Brye, Westby, WI with a six fish limit weighing 19.51 lbs.
