BREMMER and WATSON SWEEP THE AWARDS AT THE W.A.T. SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP
Dubuque, IA - The 25 Walleye Anglers Trail (W.A.T.) teams that qualified for the Season Championship fished on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th to determine the prestigious W.A.T. Team of the Year.

25 teams launched Saturday and Sunday morning from the Schmitt Harbor boat ramp. Clear skies with temperatures in the 40's greeted the participants. The low river condition contributed to a slow bite.

The day 1 leader was the team of Jerry Boardman, DeSoto, WI and Jeff Redman, Seneca, WI who weighed 5 fish for 9.59lbs. Jerry and Jeff weighed a limit of 6 fish for 10.72 lbs. on Sunday to hold-on to 2nd place with a total weight of 20.31 lbs.

The team of Galen Bremmer, Avoca, WI and Tim Watson, Blue River, WI came from 4th place after day one with a limit of 6 walleye's weighing 22.28 lbs. added to their Saturday weight of 5.63 lbs. for a total winning weight of 27.91 lbs. to claim the $1300.00 cash price plus $100.00 in Cabela's gift certificates.

The prestigious W.A.T. Team of the Year award was decided on Sunday as well. Going into Sunday, the team of Marty Berns, Dubuque, IA and Jeff Lahr, Dubuque, IA maintained over an 11-pound advantage over the team of Galen Bremmer and Tim Watson. Galen Bremmer and Tim Watson's weight on Sunday of 22.28 lbs. gave them the W.A.T. Team of the Year by 8.42 lbs. over the second place team of Marty Berns and Jeff Lahr. The two top finishers in the Team of the Year points were awarded qualifying certificated to the 2004 Cabela's National Team Walleye Championship to be held in June 2004.

Big Fish of the tournament was brought in on Sunday by the team of Galen Bremmer and Tim Watson, a walleye weighing 7.89 lbs. for $240.00. The team of Robert and Colleen Lampman, DeSoto, WI, brought in a walleye weighing 4.39 lbs. for Saturday Big Fish and $240.00.

Executive Tournament Director Harry Miller Jr. concluded the awards ceremony by awarding several recognition awards:

W.A.T. Volunteer of the Year-Janet McKinnon for all her help at the scales at all five W.A.T. events.

W.A.T. Loyalty and Appreciation Award to the team of Kevin Oyen, Dubuque, IA and John Marshall, Dubuque, IA for there support this year.

W.A.T. Middle of the Pack Award the team of Mickey Stuefen, Cedar Rapids, IA and Marty Stuefen Cedar Rapids, IA for finishing in the middle of the W.A.T. top 25 after the final event.

W.A.T. Hard Charger Award to the team of Jerry Boardman, DeSoto, WI and Jeff Redman Senaca, WI, for improving their standings in the W.A.T. points standing from 25th place after the Spring Valley, Il event to 4th place after the final event.

W.A.T. Husband and Wife Team of the Year Award, to the team of Robert and Colleen Lampman, DeSoto, WI.

W.A.T. Family Team of the Year Award to the brother team of Mark Brye, Viroqua, WI and Tom Brye, Westby, WI.

W.A.T. Big Fish of the Year to the team of Dan Kwak, Hickory Hills, IL and Thomas Gemmell, McHenry, IL, a walleye weighing 9.76 lbs. caught in LaCrosse, WI.

The 2003 W.A.T. Team of the Year is Galen Bremmer, Avoca, WI and Tim Watson, Blue River, WI. Galen and Tim teamed up for 164.85 total points.

WALLEYE ANGLERS TRAIL (W.A.T.) TO HAVE SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT IN DUBUQUE, IA.
Bellevue, IA - Twenty-five Walleye Anglers Trail (W.A.T.) teams will take to the Mississippi River on Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th for a 2-person, 2-day Walleye fishing tournament.

Two person teams will launch from the Schmitt Harbor Boat Ramp on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00a.m. daily. Weigh-in on will be at 3:00p.m. daily at the Boat Ramp. The public is invited to view the weigh-in.

Teams earned entry for this 2-day tournament based on the results obtained in four prior qualifying events held this spring and fall. Tournaments were held on March 15th-16th, 2003 at Spring Valley, IL on the Illinois River, on April 5th-6th, 2003 at Genoa, WI on the Mississippi River, on June 21st-22nd, 2003 at LaCrosse, WI on the Mississippi River and on September 20th-21st, 2003 at Trempealeau, WI on the Mississippi River.

According to Executive Tournament Director Harold Miller Jr., qualifying for the Season Championship was intense. At the final event at Trempealeau, WI, 31 teams had a shot at the top 25 qualifying spots. The 25 teams that qualified displayed their skill of being able to catch fish at 4 different locations and consistently bring fish to the scales at each event. Their loyalty to the Walleye Anglers Trail gives them a chance to compete for over $3000.00 in cash and prizes at the Season Championship. Top finishers in the Season Championship will be competing for Cabela s National Team Walleye Championship Tournament invitations for the tournament to be held in June of 2004.

The Cabela s National Team Walleye Championship is the largest Team Walleye Tournament in the World. The 2003 event awarded cash and prizes worth approximately $144,000.00
